Q: How long does the traineeship take to complete? A: We offer either 2 or 3 year fulltime traineeships.
Q: What qualifications will I have at the completion of either the 2 or 3 year traineeship? A: Upon successful completion of a 2 year course you will be issued with a Certificate III in Transport & Distribution (Warehousing & Storage), or Certificate III in Transport and Distribution (Administration), and at the end of the 3 year course a Certificate IV in Transport & Distribution (Warehousing & Storage) or Certificate IV in Transport and Distribution (Administration). Please refer to our Traineeship Qualifications link for details of the Certificate courses offered.
Q: How are courses structured? A: You will have to successfully complete 21 individual Units of Competency to achieve a Certificate Level III, & 28 units of competency to achieve Certificate Level IV. Both qualifications are completed whilst on the job at a host employer. There is no classroom activity, and no after hours classes to attend, with the added bonus of attending external short courses to gain additional training & qualification. Competency assessment is based on your ability to complete given tasks in a scheduled time therefore there are no formal tests or exams to take. A myfreightcareer trainer & assessor will make either weekly or fortnightly visits to your work place to issue & assist you with your course materials.
Q: What is a Host Employer? A: A host employer is the company where you will be placed to establish your industry career path, and where you will receive your ‘on the job’ training. Although the host company is not your direct employer, you are under their direct daily supervision and will work within the terms & conditions of employment enjoyed by all employees of the company.
Q: What are the benefits associated with a myfreightcareer traineeship? A: In addition to the practical benefits of the traineeship outlined in the Trainee Information Link (Trainee Qualifications), you will also: Employed by myfreightcareer Pty Ltd as a Quality Group Training Company, and trained by myfreightcareer as an industry specialist Registered Training Company. Be paid the applicable national trainee wage (based on working a full 38 hr week). As a normal employee you are entitled to 4 weeks annual leave, sick leave, applicable overtime & superannuation.
Q: Is it similar to TAFE or University where I just apply and am accepted? A: No. The Traineeship is structured to simulate a real work environment, where you will work a full 38 hour week while completing your qualification. Acceptance into the traineeship is a 3 step process:
1. Candidate submits a formal Resume with their application for myfreightcareer to assess traineeship suitability. 2. Suitable candidates are then interviewed by myfreightcareer to further assess their Industry and Traineeship position suitability, and for candidates to determine the traineeships suitability in relation to their own career goals and objectives. 3. Successful candidates will then have interviews with potential host companies to ensure both parties are satisfied a suitable match exists, after which you will be signed up to Government Traineeship contracts and the traineeship begins.
Q: Are my qualifications nationally recognised? A: All completed units of competency within your traineeship are Nationally Recognised Training by both the State & Federal Governments & are equivalent to identical courses offered by TAFE or other private Training Colleges . Some Units of Competency are also transferable to other Nationally Recognised Training courses.
