RPL or Recognition of Prior Learning:  Involves the assessment of previously unrecognised skills and knowledge a participant has achieved outside the formal education and training system. It is an assessment process that assesses the participant's non-formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that participant has achieved the required learning outcomes or competency outcomes.

RCC or Recognition of Current Competencies: Applies if a participant has previously successfully completed the requirements for a unit of competency or module and is now required to be reassessed to ensure that the competence is being maintained.

The key points in the establishment of the training program are:

  • The host employer signs the indenture contract with the Federal Government, facilitating the receipt of funding for the cost of the training if applicable
  • The host company appoints a Registered Training Company (RTO) to conduct the training
  • The RTO invoices the host company for training services, which are invoiced upon completion of each training session or RPL/RCC process, and is subject to GST
  • Host company may be eligible to  receives funding directly from the Government
  • Flexibility in choosing the appropriate qualification dependant on job description.

The following outlines the cost structure associated with both training delivery & assessment. The costs are calculated per student. This is worked on a case by case scenario. Note that some of the participants may be eligible for federal funding payable to the employer.
