The Chain of Responsibility (CoR) for Executives course is offered by My Freight Career in partnership with The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) as part of the Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI).
Under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), everyone who works with heavy vehicles either directly or indirectly, is accountable for safety. This is not just limited to the business that employs the driver or owns the vehicle—it also includes any business that sends or receives goods.
The course has been designed specifically for company executives, branch managers, operational and department managers, compliance teams and supervisors working in an international freight forwarding or logistics operation.
Delivered online and at your own pace, the course covers everything leaders need to know to identify and reduce risk, minimise harm and ensure compliance. You’ll learn abut your legal responsibilities and find out how to develop the necessary internal processes, procedures and programs needed to comply, including training your workforce.

- Understanding your duties and responsibilities including the Primary Duty and Executive Due Diligence Duty
- Working with other businesses and understanding the nature and level of each party’s responsibility
- An overview of the ten critical CoR functions
- Identify hazards and risks including points of contact or influence between your business activity and heavy vehicle activities
- Assessing and managing hazards and risks including implementation of control measures
- Documenting policies and procedures
- Monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement of your CoR systems
- Real life case studies and examples

Prerequisites
There are no previous study or qualification prerequisites. A sound comprehension of the English language including reading and writing is however required.

About this course
In April 2024, My Freight Career (RTO 90489) was one of 9 grantees to receive funding from The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator as part of a $1.7 million “once off” funding program to develop Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Training and Educational Awareness Programs.
My Freight Career is working closely with the NHVR to develop and deliver this course for managers and supervisors responsible for identifying and minimising the risk of road accidents involving heavy vehicles and ensuring appropriate processes and procedures are in place. The course will be available in May 2025.

Who is My Freight Career?
My Freight Career (MFC) is both an RTO (Registered Training Organisation), and GTO (Group Training Organisation). We have been successfully delivering training in transport and logistics nationally recognised units of competency, certifications, and qualifications, for the freight forwarding, logistics and supply chain industries for more than 20 years. Our Assessors are industry experienced and qualified, and our material is relevant and current to the freight forwarding, logistics and supply chain industries.

Who is the NHVR?
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is Australia’s regulator for heavy vehicles.
The organisation was established in 2013 as a statutory authority to administer the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) which applies in all Australian states and territories except the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

What support is offered from Myfreightcareer?
During the hours of 0830 to 1700 AEST any support request sent via e-mail will be answered by one of our qualified and experienced trainers. All requests sent outside of these hours will be answered at the earliest convenience of our trainers the next day.
Do I have to complete the course in one go, or can I log in and out when needed?
You can login as many times as you like. You can save your work at anytime and return as many times as required during your training.
When does the course start?
As the course is self-paced the start date will be once you choose to enrol and payment is received. It is then up to the learner to complete the course at a time that suits them via tablet, PC & smartphone.
What happens if I do not know the answer to a question or can't complete an assessment?
You can review your learning resources at any time to assist you when completing the assessment. MFC Assessors will provide you with notes for any question you have not answered satisfactorily and you can then reattempt the question. You have until the end of your course period or up to five attempts (whichever comes first) to successfully complete the assessment.
Can I have access to my training records?
Your records are securely stored. Please contact My Freight Career if you need your training records (you will be required to verify your details).
How will I be assessed?
The assessment will include short written knowledge responses, an Industry scenario analysis, a simulated workplace task and completion of COR Breach Reports.
