myfreightcareer rate their recent Ipswich Project, where they partnered with DB Schenker to deliver 23 traineeships in the Ipswich area, as one of their major successes of 2014
Commenting on the project, Ron Koehler, CEO, Schenker Australia Pty. Ltd, said “We worked with myfreightcareer, as our training organisation, the local Ipswich Council; and various Job Search Agencies to offer a five week pre-vocational course offering combined classroom learning and on-site work experience to participants who were unemployed or unskilled in the logistics industry”.
“At the end of the course, we offered 23 of the participants a two-year traineeship, in which they are employed by myfreightcareer on a full time basis. They will achieve a Certificate III qualification in Warehousing Operations upon completion and are now being trained in a variety of roles in logistics.”
myfreightcareer think the success of the project can be best measured by comments made by the participants who completed the pre-vocational course and are now working with DB Schenker, such as:
- Everything we do out on the warehouse floor now is what we have been taught
- I enjoy it 200%, if I didn’t enjoy it I wouldn’t turn up to work every day
- At the commencement my goals were to get a job and they have changed, now it’s to get a career not just a job.
- I basically did the training because it was part of my job seeker requirements, but I am glad I did it and I encourage anyone else who wants a job in this industry or work environment to do the same.
